Small Businesses: Why you need a brand, not a logo.

If you’re a small business owner, chances are you started out with zero funding besides your own bank account.

There are many costs to starting a business. It’s likely you’ve prioritized certain things before creating a brand. You might not even know you need a brand.

But here’s the thing.

If you’re a business, small or large, you’re competing in the same marketplace that your competition is.
And that means if you show up with a less-than-professional logo that you ordered from an online service or (no offense) from your nephew (yes it happens) — your business will be downgraded.

Here’s why: Your customers are savvy consumers. No, they may not be designers. They may not even know that they are influenced by professional branding.

But we all are.

We are faced with marketing and advertising all day long that is professionally planned, well written, and designed perfectly. When we come across something that feels unprofessional, we just know.

A professional brand is built upon a foundation of your business plan, your target audience, your business goals, and takes into account what your competition is doing and what makes you different / better / unique. It’s a logo, yes— but it’s so much more.
